Traveling far and wide is wonderful. Nothing like it. The interesting stories derived are treasures. Yet, there is just as much to be said for keeping it local. Taking time to explore ones backyard if you will. Especially if that territory happens to be one of the most outstanding and remote island chains in the world. Hawaii.
The plan was no plan. Sailing from here to over there, simply because we felt like it. Or the winds were right. Or that wave over there might be working. From Maui to Kauai. There were more spots to explore and potential adventures to find ourselves in than time would allot. Salt-crusted, reef-cut, boat-bruised, sunburned, sea-legged with a wild look in the eye and a bag full of legendary anecdotes is how this trip left me. Track me down, I will share a few.
“The sea always filled her with longing, though for what she was never sure.” -Cornelia Funke
